Our National Trial Examination Papers (NTEP) provide an initial diagnostic assessment, while the Yearly Assessment Papers provide a longer term, complete solution for enhancing  students’ literacy and numeracy skills.

Together, the NTEP and the Assessment Papers will improve levels of competency in all areas of English and Mathematics by facilitating the early assessment of students’ skills, helping teachers to identify areas of strength, or where students may need additional assistance.

NATIONAL TRIAL EXAMINATION PAPERS (NTEP)

These Trial papers are excellent preparation for the National Assessments in Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). They assess the essential skills, knowledge and understandings that Year 3 and 5 students need to learn. In addition, they enable students to show what they have learned in class and build skills in exam techniques.

Each NATIONAL TRIAL Literacy and Numeracy Paper is designed in the same format of the NAPLAN.

• Literacy Papers consist of three sections: Language conventions (Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling), Reading, and Writing. This helps teachers to improve the Literacy skills of their students.

• Numeracy Paper provides a diagnostic approach in helping teachers to measure students’ abilities to work mathematically as well as to assess their knowledge, understanding and skills.

K-6 Mathematics Program and Policy

The Policy aims to promote mathematics learning at school. It includes sections on Social Justice, Numeracy and Literacy, Information Communication Technology, Assessment and Reporting, and practices for Students with Special Needs, including Gifted and Talented.

The Program aims to provide a complete sequential teaching program from Kindergarten through to Year 6. It is based on the NSW Mathematics K-6 Syllabus and contains a specific scope and sequence of the teaching and learning units for each year and a general framework across the Primary stages.

The spiral nature of the program together with its sequence of topics addresses the knowledge requirements of students, enhances their learning and promotes effective teaching.

Each teaching and learning unit provides teachers with suggested learning experiences that cater for diverse learner needs that include the use of Literacy, technology and working mathematically. In addition, pre-unit and post-unit assessment samples are included to assist teachers in determining student progress and achievement. The unit also provides references to the most common student textbooks. It also has references to useful websites where appropriate.

We are confident that schools will benefit from this policy and program in promoting mathematics teaching and learning.
